Instagram uses different page types for Reels, feed posts, profiles and Stories. The best results come from the public URL of the individual media item—not a profile, hashtag page or Explore feed.
Reels and video posts
Open the Reel or post, use the share menu and copy its link. Paste that address into the Instagram downloader. When the source is publicly accessible, the result panel can show the video choices returned for that item. Our Instagram Reels downloader guide covers short-form video links specifically.
Stories behave differently
Stories are temporary and may be removed by the account owner or expire before a link is processed. Private-account Stories require authorized account access and are not treated as public media. If a public Story is still available, use its individual shared URL and check it promptly. Read the Instagram Stories guide for the limitations.
Common Instagram link problems
- The account is private or the viewer must sign in.
- The Reel, post or Story has been deleted or expired.
- The copied URL points to a profile instead of one media item.
- The creator has restricted availability.
Do not rely on a promised quality before analysis. Instagram can serve different versions depending on the original upload. Compare the returned format and estimated size, then save only content you created or are allowed to use.
